October Wish List

October is one of the best months. It’s the month where scarves & booties are pushed to the front of your closet, where the leaves turn to the most beautiful golden colors (& bad hair days dissipate from the lack of humidity!) Not only is it officially Pumpkin Season, National Pizza Month & National Cookie Month…but it is also the month of my birthday. Below are my most coveted items. They are the best versions of the essentials – the crème de la crème. The most luscious leather & the most supple silk, because when you buy classics they should be the highest of quality in order to last the longest & earn the most wear.WishlistRick Owens Leather Jacket – Hermès Silk Scarf – Tod’s Aviator SunglassesMarco Bicego Gold & Diamond Ring

Another fun tid-bit of this October is the leopard print box at Ladurée. Make sure you grab yours soon, as they are sure to sell out quickly on Madison Ave!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale – Must Haves For Fall

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale officially starts today! This is truly one of the best sales of the year. The concept behind this sale is unlike any other; rather than putting old, out-dated merchandise on sale, they put new fall merchandise on sale for two weeks. Once the two weeks are up, all items go back to regular price. Sometimes is can be hard to shop for boots when there is a heat wave going on outside the AC’d department store, but the 33% off is definitely worth it.  It also pays if you have a Nordstrom Rewards Card because you get triple points the first 3 days of the sale (& you get to shop early access if you are a certain level!) Make sure you shop quickly because all of the best stuff runs out fast! Below are my favorite finds from the sale, ranging from booties to shades. Nordstrom PicksHouse of Harlow ‘Blondie’ Sunglasses – Rag & Bone ‘Harrow’ Bootie – See By Chloé Skimmer Flat – Tory Burch ‘Brianna’ Dress – Vince Leather Trim Sweater – Burberry ‘Colour Check’ Square Scarf – Rebecca Minkoff ‘Kiefer’ Trench Coat

Summer Essential: Tinted Chapstick

The best beauty accessory for summer is a tinted chapstick. Not only does it keep your lips hydrated & protected from the sun, but it also adds a little sass to your look. Red lips are attractive lips – & who doesn’t want that? The below chapstick from NYC Color is a great & inexpensive option to transition from your beach bag to your evening clutch. Since it is tinted, it flatters all complexions because it simply makes your natural lip pop. Also, if you are in a jam, you can apply it directly to your cheeks as a blush to brighten your whole face. Win, win.

P.S: My favorite shade is Big Apple Red. Standard.

July 4th Picks!

The biggest BBQ day of the year is only one week away, so you better start thinking about what delicious food you’re gonna grill! One of the best things that I have discovered is grilled peaches with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top – it legitimately tastes like peach cobbler. Regarding outfits, you have to rock the classic red, white & blue, but it’s even better if you do it in a non-classic way. Below are some great All-American apparel & accessories to mix & match with some pieces you already own. Keep in mind all outfits are best paired with sparklers!

Ombre Maxis

Yes! Summer has finally hit & everyone could not be more appreciative. One of the most simple summer styles to help keep you cool is the flowy maxi dress. Not only does it enable you to beat the heat, but it also covers up those stems (in case you have a dress code at work or your legs haven’t been kissed by the sun yet.) Maxis are a great option because they are an outfit all on their own with no need to heavily accessorize. However, if you are feeling glamorous, feel free to layer on the accoutrements. A great print for your maxi this summer is inspired by the oh-so-trendy ombre hair style. Ombre is the ultimate effect because it shows the fade of hair or clothes from the spectacular sun (by process or nature.) Check out some chic ombre maxi dresses below from Young, Fabulous & Broke. maxisMel Ombre Maxi – Black – Hamptons Stripe Dress – Yellow Stripe

Black is the New Black

Black goes with everything. Some argue that it doesn’t mix well with navy, but as you can see here, it seems to compliment it quite well. Black is great because it doesn’t stain, the color (excuse me, “shade”) takes longer to fade & you can wear a black piece multiple times without it seeming overdone/overworn.

This spring, add key black elements to your outfits that have a pop of fun. Accessories are great because they tend to be to most inexpensive (& fun!) way to make your outfit unique. It financially makes more sense to invest your hard earned dollars on accessories, because an expensive dress can only be worn a few times, but an expensive handbag can be worn everyday & for many years.

Whether it be an awesome texture or a hint of glitter, the below pieces are great for all year-round-wear to spice up your outfit.

WWYD: What Would Yves Do?

With the not so recent change in Yves Saint Laurent’s brand image, many fashionistas have been in an uproar. The mentality behind dropping the Yves, in Yves Saint Laurent, was to become more youthful & stay more relevant with similar brands (think: Coco Chanel  – being called just Chanel & Christian Dior – being called just Dior.) To play devil’s advocate (also known as Hedi Slimane, the Creative Director of YSL) it makes sense. They needed a new image & they needed to be talked about. Nowadays, more and more youth are purchasing the lofty priced bags, so designers need to cater to them as well. Even the new Saint Laurent site has an edgier & more modern feel to it. Interestingly enough, the new branding of the Saint Laurent logo strongly resembles Céline – a brand that has also recently rebranded itself & now heavily caters to the affluent youth.

Good news: they are keeping the YSL logo even though they are dropping the Y – this seems like a way to soften the blow to the brand’s loyal customers.

However, if you are one of the many who is still heartbroken by the dropping of Yves, you must purchase this comfy Prêt-à-Porter statement sweatshirt.

Keep in mind, Saint Laurent once wrote to Tom Ford, “In 13 minutes on the runway you have destroyed 40 years of my career.” What do you think he would say about having his first name dropped?
